Tohutohu me nga Tinihanga - Tips & Tricks
Getting the most out of your candle
When you first light your candle, let it burn for at least an hour. The second burn should be at the least 2 hours. This is to ensure that the wax in your candle vessel has a melt pool from edge to edge and does not tunnel. This will alleviate any wastage of wax hanging on the sides of your vessel and maximise your candles burn time. Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
Extinguishing your Candle
Extinguishing your candle does not need the use of any fancy tools like a candle snuffer or the lid of your candle vessel. Actually by utilising any of the two methods will result in some sooting and/or blackening of the inside of your vessel.
Simple method to extinguishing your candle is to:
Have a paper clip handy. Unravel one end of the paper clip so that it acts like a handle, something you can hold comfortably between two fingers. While holding the paper clip use the unravelled end to push or dip the candle wick back into to the liquified (melted) wax until the flame is extinguished. Using the unravelled end of your paper clip, help pull the extinguished wick back to its centre point ready for its next burn.
Trimming your Candle Wick
Safe use of your candle advises you to trim back your wick/s to either 6mm or 7mm before lighting . There is a simple solution to doing this without the need of any fancy tools like a wick trimmer. Simply pinch the wick with your thumb and forefinger and the wick should break off at the required length for relighting. I use this method all the time before I relight any of my candles and it works like a treat every time.
The last 10mm (1cm) of wax left in your candle vessel
Candle safety requirements strongly advise not to burn your candle when there is 10mm or less of wax left in the vessel, this is to avoid any serious damage to you, your property and your vessel. To get every last cent from your candle, after all you have paid for this, we recommend that you pour out the contents of the wax while in liquid form, into a soluble, non flammable, meltable container and use it to fragrance your home or office by using the last of the wax in a wax melter or wax burner.
Reuse, Repurpose your Candle Vessel
We strongly recommend you reuse or repurpose your used candle vessel to store small bits and pieces from non-eatible items from q-tips to cotton balls, arts and crafts bits and pieces and sewing pins and threads. Nothing small is excluded.
You could also plant your favourite succulent plant in our candle vessels and place on a sunny window sill or in your bathroom. Their use is limitless beyond one's imagination.
